古い時代のアメリカで使われていた味のある木製のサインボード。ハンドペイントならではの無骨なレタリングや、黒地に浮き出る白の擦れ具合が好印象。おそらく1940代頃に、ローカルの貸家業者が実際の現場で使っていたものと考えられます。両面仕様なので、店頭や路上のアイアンフレームに吊って使われていたタイプ。経年で色落ちしたペイントや、ボードの縁に残る当時の釘穴もリアルな仕事道具の証。作り手の温度が残る “オールドサイン”らしい空気感が魅力です。

This is a great-looking wooden trade sign from old-time America, originally used by a local rental agent back in the 1940s. The hand-painted lettering has that rugged, no-frills charm—white paint rubbed down just enough to let the black ground show through.
It’s double-sided, meant to hang from an iron frame out on the street or in front of a storefront. The weathered paint, edge wear, and old nail holes all speak to its working life in the field.
A true piece of vintage advertising with the kind of character only age and real use can create. If you’re into old trade signs with honest patina and hand-done workmanship, this one hits all the right notes.
